If something goes wrong

Read this before you travel, and keep the numbers somewhere you can reach without a phone signal. It is short on purpose.

Independent patient coordination. Zero markup on your hospital bill. Not medical advice.

In a medical emergency, call 120 first

120 is the Chinese ambulance number. It is free and it does not require Chinese — hand the phone to a hotel receptionist, a passer-by or your interpreter if you cannot make yourself understood.

Call 120 before you call us. Every minute spent reaching a coordinator is a minute not spent reaching a hospital. We are a coordination service, not an emergency service.

Do not wait for a reply from us before calling an ambulance.

Then call us

Your coordinator's own number is on the card you were given on arrival. Use that first during your stay — they know your case.

How we respond

Four levels, four speeds

Not every problem is an emergency. Grading it means the urgent ones get attention and the routine ones do not crowd them out.

LevelWhat it looks likeWhat happens
RedChest pain, difficulty breathing, heavy bleeding, loss of consciousnessCall 120. We notify the hospital's international department and your family in parallel.
AmberFever above 38.5 °C, a wound that looks wrong, severe pain, inability to eat or drinkWe reach the treating surgeon or the international department within 30 minutes and arrange a same-day review.
YellowCost dispute, visa running out, appointment moved, distressHandled within two hours during the working day.
GreenQuestions, rescheduling, paperworkSame working day.

What we will not do

  • —We will not give you medical advice, or tell you what a symptom means
  • —We will not tell you which drug or implant to choose
  • —We will not pay a hospital bill on your behalf, or guarantee that you can
  • —We will not promise an outcome, or that a particular surgeon will be available
  • —We will not hide a change made by the hospital

If you are unhappy

Complaints about the medical care itself go to the hospital. Every Chinese hospital has a patient complaints office (医务处 / 投诉办), and the international department will route you to it. We will help you file it and translate the response, but we cannot adjudicate it.

Complaints about our coordination — a missed pickup, a coordinator who did not answer, a bill we quoted wrongly — come to us directly at hello@meditourcare.com. We answer within two working days.

Before you fly

Carry the card

Your coordinator's number, the hospital's international department and your hotel address — on paper, in Chinese and English.

Tell us your conditions

Heart disease, diabetes, bleeding disorders, current medication. If we do not know, the hospital does not know.

Name your next of kin

Someone we may call, and who may make decisions if you cannot. Give us the number before you travel, not after.

This page tells you what to do. It is not medical advice, and it does not replace the instructions the treating hospital gives you. Full medical disclaimer.

Ready to start your health journey?

Send us your records and tell us what you are trying to solve. A coordinator replies within one business day with a proposed hospital, a named specialist, and a written cost range — before you pay anything.
